This is a follow-up to my previous post about bloggers reposting material.
Honestly, I've lost a good bit of respect for this woman. She provides a very valuable service and her advice is usually excellent, but here she seems to be almost deliberately misconstruing my arguments and ignoring those points that she can't misconstrue. And that bit about "professional writers" is, well, a bit bitchy!
Her rather snippy response:

Whether or not she responds, I'm going to let the issue die here. She plainly doesn't want to dismount from her hobbyhorse.

You are incorrect. No matter what the content is reposted for, whether it's
for a "friend" or a group of people, posting someone else's content without
permission is a violation of federal copyright law. Ignorance of copyright law
is no excuse.
The website stole her content and reposted it. It was copyright
theft. Saying it might get the original writer some "publicity" is
absurd. You need to read up on copyright laws before you start
trying to tell professional writers what is and isn't copyright theft.
The U.S. copyright law is here:

12:15 p.m. - at the library
Sandwiched in-between a book about the life of a military sniper and a book about cooking low-carb: "How to Cook Your Daughter"
Well, at least they shelved it in a mostly appropriate place!
12:56 p.m. - reading email
Go sign MoveOn.org's entirely worthy petition to preserve the internet's network neutrality: http://www.civic.moveon.org/save_the_int ernet
1:48 p.m.
Busy reading through
penthius entries tagged as high potential in an attempt to figure out what story I want to write next. Also updating spreadsheet of high potential story ideas. As I look through the tags, I admit that it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to see the ones that are tagged as 'written'.
2:08
Interesting. Most of the more recent high potential entries are science fiction--somewhat daunting, though fantasy done right requires equal amounts of research.
2:59 - updating recipe spreadsheet from the vegan cookbook
What the deuce are yeast flakes? And is it really healthy to throw in a whole cup of them?
3:20 p.m. - acquire mail
Yargh! Annoyed that in-laws (not m-i-l & p-i-l) still cannot spell my name correctly. Must remind self that I *do* have an unusual name and that the in-laws in question are not the best educated folks in the world. See? By condescending, I can forgive!
4:05 p.m. - looking at writing contests and anthologies
"GRINDERPHALLUS" - Yup, that's a pretty evocative name for an anthology. Certainly eye-catching.
I don't remember much after this, probably because of the repeatedly banging my head against the wall while trying to figure out what to write next. Except that Foundling was licking the Muse's socks and it was funny.
