I should know better than to go into the seasonal section in stores, I really should. Target has a pretty fabulous variety of Halloween stuff (and one aisle of Christmas stuff--already). Whenever I wander into one of these places, I find myself drawn into little domestic fantasies wherein I have the finances to decorate my entire house with seasonal items, the time to create customized seasonal tokens of affection for all my friends, and the gumption to throw a fabulous seasonal party with all the stops and props pulled out.
I count myself lucky that I was able to escape after only acquiring a black tin haunted house, fake glowing cobwebs, Halloween cookie sprinkles, treat bags for said mythical cookies, and a black cat Pez dispenser.
P.S. For those wondering what this strange phenomenon will end up being, Target's new "fresh produce" section opens tomorrow.

Your problem is one of temporal dependencies. You have everything necessary to achieve this goal, if you put the party phase BEFORE the decoration phase.
Invite your friends. Tell them to bring decoration supplies. Spend the party making the decorations and decorating your house. Have fun, then end the party with the house all pretty and decorated and all you have to do is clean up the craft area.
